Bringing digital identities to life: social networks and/or domain names?
Panel discussion with Stefano Maruzzi (GoDaddy), Rémi Loiseau (OVH), David Fowler (CIRA) and Oonagh McCutcheon (IEDR), moderated by Alexandrine Gauvin (CENTR).
Google, Facebook and many other platforms have made it infinitely easier for internet users to create online identities. Despite this real challenge, the domain name industry is still standing strong and have maintained its relevance throughout big changes in the last decade. However, as these platforms continue to grow and consolidate, how can domain names be promoted as digital identity and marketing tools? How can the industry highlight its competitive advantage? This panel discussion will try to tap into the creative minds of registries and registrars to find and learn about solutions to turn pure domain names into active website and email addresses as seamlessly as possible.
