CENTR to release public ccTLD repository for Registrars

News 13-07-2016

CENTR will soon be releasing a first version of its "Registrar Portal" - a public repository of key administrative, policy and technical information on ccTLDs.

Why are we doing this?

After several formal and informal discussions with the European Registrar community, it became clear that one of the most important things CENTR could do to assist the Registrar community is to ensure that the process to sell ccTLDs is made as easy as possible. One of the more tangible ideas that came from the discussions was that CENTR could create a centralised source of information on ccTLDs - a place where Registrars view at a glance the key policies, technical requirements and links to registrar agreements of different ccTLDs.

Data gathered from a task force made up of member ccTLDs and European Registrars has now been built into the Registrar Portal along with a functionality allowing ccTLDs to add and update their information dynamically in the system.

What's included

The Registrar Portal includes data on the following: the organisation profile listed by TLD, links to key documents (eg. registrar agreements), basic policy information, administrative aspects (payments, invoicing etc) and technical information (eg. EPP supported, DNSSEC supported, etc.). Also included in the portal is a dedicated table of EPP status codes. It shows how the ccTLD has defined many of the EPP fields and the names they use (eg. add period, auto renew period, pending create, etc.), any EPP extensions used and other relevant information.

Next Steps

The portal (first version) is expected to be released in the coming weeks to allow Registrars to get a first glance at the tables. Within CENTR, the Administrative WG will be discussing further the data within the portal with the aim to add and improve it.
