Chinese Internet Address Registrars Conference Convenes

To further promote healthy and orderly development of Chinese Internet address resources, representatives of China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC), registrars and partners from both at home and abroad gathered together to hold the 10th China Internet Address Resources Registrars Conference on Jan. 29, 2013, and communicated with each other on management, service, experience promotion and application prospect of Chinese Internet address resources.
CNNIC Director Huang Xiangyang made a summary report at the conference. He reviewed the achievements CNNIC made in 2012 in system operation & maintenance, technological innovation, customer service and business operation, etc., and highly appreciated the outstanding contributions made by registrars. Representatives of registrars and partners who attended the conference were active in offering advice and suggestions, and said that they would continue to keep close contact and cooperation with CNNIC, so as to jointly promote healthy and sustainable development of China Internet address resources and lay a solid foundation for the development of the Chinese Internet industry.
To commend outstanding registrars, CNNIC evaluated the registrars in an all-around way in accordance with its registrar evaluation system, and finally awarded 8 registrars with the title of “Excellent Chinese Registrar 2012”. CNNIC also commended registrars that had made outstanding achievements in terms of customer service, innovative application and CSR, etc., so as to strengthen the strategic policy of “providing efficient and application-oriented services through secure & stable Internet infrastructure for public interests”, enhance the domain name service level and promote ccTLDs.
Moreover, over 40 domain name service agencies and ISPs were designated at the conference to undertake the “China Domain Name System IPv6 Upgrade & Transformation Project” together with CNNIC. Initiated by CNNIC at the beginning of 2012, the project is carried out by CNNIC in conjunction with enterprises of the Internet industry, aiming to upgrade and transform level-2 authoritative servers and below as well as small and medium-sized ISP recursive servers of China. Upon completion, the project is expected to provide IPv6-address-supporting authoritative resolution services for 80% of domain names of China and IPv6-address-supporting recursive resolution services for over 10 million users.
